Experience ‘Tirtha’ in Chand Baori
 
Located in Abhaneri, a short drive from Jaipur, this is one of the largest and most spectacular looking stepwells in the region. With 3,500 terraced steps and a glorious temple, this well goes 13 stories deep and has a depth of 100 feet. Constructed back in the 10th century, it is believed that one can experience “Tirtha”, a space between heaven and hell, when you visit this spot. Made of masonry, stone and brass, this complex is home to the world’s largest stone sundial, along with instruments that enable observations of astronomical positions with the naked eye.

Galtaji

A sanctuary in the heart of Jaipur, Galtaji is a popular pilgrimage spot for Hindus. Many arrive here to bathe in the sacred springs and reservoirs located in the enormous complex. The most sacred of the seven spots, Galta Kund, is known to have never gone dry. Dedicated to the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, the temple is most known for its tribe of monkeys that reside here, believed to be his present-day descendants.

Jal Mahal
 
Head out from your hotel in Jaipur and visit the Jal Mahal that sits right in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. The palace currently appears to be only one story high, when in fact there are four more levels of the building which are submerged underwater of this manmade reservoir. This building was never intended to be a ‘Water Palace’, as it is now called, but was originally a hunting lodge for the local king.
