DURGAPUR
Considered to be the second-best planned city in India, Durgapur is an assimilation of perfect urbanization. It is located in the Burdwan district of West Bengal and happens to be the industrial town with Durgapur Steel Plant, SAIL, and Durgapur Thermal Power Station all located in the city. Durgapur attracts a lot of tourists every year, especially during September–December. Because of the proper connectivity, it is easy to reach the city. By Air
Kolkata serves as the connecting destination if you are travelling from any other part of India. It is located about 180 km from Durgapur. After reaching the airport, you have to either take a taxi or a bus to reach the city. Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport is the only other airport which can be used to reach Durgapur.
By Road
Many tourists also prefer to travel by buses. The road connectivity is well-developed, and a number of buses are available on this route. You can travel by buses that connect Durgapur with Kolkata and other towns like Bankura, Birbhum, Bolpur, and Purulia, which are at an approximate distance of 100 km, 130km, 136 km, 142 km, and 157 km respectively. You can also reach Durgapur by taking long route buses from Jamshedpur, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Dumka, Puri, Bokaro, Bhagalpur, Digha, Ranchi, Dhanbad, or Chaibasa. Both state and private buses are available to reach Durgapur.
By Rail
Durgapur Railway Station is well-connected to all the major Indian cities. The rail route is one of the main rail lines of West Bengal. There are mails and super-fast trains, including the Rajdhani Express, that halt here. You can board a train from cities such as New Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Allahabad can board a train to Durgapur without any problems.
