Dedicated to Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, this is the largest garden in Western India and is spread over 45 hectares. Laxmi Vilas Palace

The Laxmi Vilas Palace is an astonishing archaeological structure, which is almost four times the size of the Buckingham Palace and is famous as the largest private dwelling, spread across an area of 700 acres. It was built in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III with the royal Gaekwad family of Vadodara still residing here. The majestic palace also has the Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum in its compound. The museum features a splendid collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Verma and other artefacts from around the world. The lovely gardens add to the beauty of the place, with lucky visitors spotting a peacock or two on some rare occasions.
