Exploring the Various Bazaars of Jaipur

Jaipur is renowned for its royal family and beautiful historical monuments. Aside from the inherent culture, the city also makes for a great shopping destination. Many of Jaipur’s local markets have been around since Colonial times, and some even prior to that.

These bazaars still hold the same charm as they did back in the day and make for great shopping destinations today. With some remarkable markets that sell exquisite Indian textiles, artefacts, jewellery and more, a few days spent in the Pink City makes for great retail therapy. Here are some of the bazaars of Jaipur that you must check out.

Johari Bazaar

Going by the name itself, Johari Bazaar is the perfect place to buy gemstones, silver jewellery, and gold jewellery. Take your pick from traditional Rajasthani jewellery designs, such as Kundan, Polki and Meenakari. Apart from the large selection of jewellery, you will also find shops selling tie-and-dye fabrics and sarees.

Tripolia Bazaar

Jaipur is also famous for its lac jewellery, and you will find gorgeous varieties of lac bangles in Tripolia Bazaar. It is also the best place to go to when looking to buy handicraft items, various antiques, and richly designed carpets.

Chandpol Bazaar

Marvel at the skill of artisans when you visit Chandpol Bazaar. Discover works by the best marble workers and painters in Jaipur. Stroll into the back lanes and you will find exquisite sculptures made from beautiful blocks of marble.

Kishanpol Bazaar

Kishanpol is another bazaar that is famous for hand-printed textiles. But, the thing that will catch your eye more than the fabrics are the woodwork items. From stately wooden furniture to intricately carved ornaments, the skill of the artisans is evident in every piece.

Nehru Bazaar

While you will find exquisite textiles and clothes in Nehru Bazaar, the primary reason to visit here is for the traditional mojris. Aside from making additions to your wardrobe, Nehru Bazaar is also a great place to buy hand-painted blue pottery.

These markets cater to a multitude of tourists, so a good amount of bargaining would not go amiss! With so many markets to explore during your trip, it is best to select hotels in Jaipur that will accommodate your travel plans.
