Explore the Magnificent Manipal Like Never Before

Manipal is a beautiful town that is located in the Udupi district of Karnataka. With its many museums, planetariums, and multiplexes, the town contains a whole world of entertainment opportunities for its visitors. Whether you are a history lover, a science lover or even an adventure lover – there’s something for everyone in this town.

If you are planning to take a vacation here, then do visit some of these iconic places that the town has to offer:

1. The Hanging Bridge

This place serves as the perfect shout-out for nature lover and bike enthusiasts. Located atop a backwater channel, this place is the perfect spot to go for cycling or running amidst the beauty of Mother Nature. Situated a few kilometers away from Manipal, the best way to reach this place is by a motorcycle or bicycle since the passage to this place is intertwining leaving enough space only for smaller vehicles.

2. The Heritage Village

A heaven for history lovers, the Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village in Manipal is a private assortment of heritage homes. These were disrupted a long time ago, but have been restored in the recent times by Vijayanath Shenoy, a retired bank employee. The place is filled with traditional structures and is an example of how historical beauty should be preserved and respected. At the moment, the Heritage Village is not open to public and one must seek permission to explore it.

3. Anatomy and Pathology Museum

If you are with kids or family and are in the mood to explore the fun side of science, then take your entire family to the Anatomy Museum. The museum hosts animal and human body parts and diseased organs as specimens for its visitors. Established in 1960, the museum holds over 1000 dissected specimens of the human body.

4. Dr TMA Pai Planetarium

Located on the banks of the Manipal Lake, next to the Manipal Junior College, Dr TMA Pai Planetarium has been named after Dr. Tonse Madhav Pai. The planetarium arranges various programs in order to generate more awareness and interest about astronomy. Housed in a 3000 sq. ft. complex, the planetarium holds shows in both Kannada and English and the shows pertain to the knowledge about our solar system, the Milky Way, and millions of other galaxies.
